Perfectly Placed In Time

I've written before that I enjoy rainy days (Free Flight, Healing Morning, 1/24/2010).  Particularly, I enjoy the ones where the rain visits for several days and gives us that soft, misty gray quality to enjoy.  To me, the world takes on a different energy, one that is a bit slower, a bit more deliberate and a bit more profound...if we pause long enough to embrace it.  Rainy days have a sleepy quality, and for some reason, I seem to be given clear direction and guidance on those days. Perhaps this happens simply because rainy days force us to slow down in our overall pace, and we have more time to pay attention to feelings and impressions.

Last week, through a series of connections, I ended up attending a local business networking function.  This meeting was held in one of our skyscraper buildings in the downtown Knoxville area, at the top floor of that building.  I've been to that private club floor several times over the years, and I never fail to enjoy the panoramic view of Knoxville from that perspective.  The meeting I attended was in a corner room that had two full walls of windows, allowing us to see a wide expanse of Knoxville.  Because of the rainy day, fog and the typical mists of East Tennessee were present, cloaking the city and surrounding ridges in drifting misty clouds.  Everything was shades of black, grays and whites, and standing there, I was struck with a dramatic sense of peace.

Earlier in this week, I had experienced a dream that gave me a very clear message of interacting with local business groups being important to my own business success.  I heeded that dream, as I have always believed we are given very strong messages in the dream state, and as I attended various group meetings, I began to see an almost immediate result.  I am still in the very new stages of identifying the groups where I wish to establish stronger, permanent connections, but I am more than pleased with the feedback I'm receiving.

That particular afternoon, in that room of that skyscraper, gazing out over Knoxville as the city drowsed its way through the soft, gray rainy day, I got typically choked up at the beauty of it all, and how perfectly placed I was in that moment in time.  We're all guilty of overlooking clear messages we're given, because life is definitely chock full of distractions and stressors.  But when we...or, when I make a conscious effort to pay attention to those messages, those nudges and those obvious opportunities, it is gratifying how quickly things begin to fall into place.  I wish that I had had a camera that day so that I could've snapped an enduring image of what my eyes saw and my Spirit felt, but the image is one that exists only in my memories and mind's eye.  I can relate to you that it was beautiful....peaceful.....and that there was a sense of hushed expectancy...of waiting....and, if I may be so bold as to voice my own interpretation....a sense of approval.  That was the message I received that day.

I don't know what the immediate future will hold for me, but the short term energies that are building indicate that by heeding those Divine communications, I am creating a solid positive path for myself.  Good things are happening, good connections are being established, and small successes are growing.  Just a few short weeks ago, I weathered a very abrupt, frustrating rocky moment with a business contract.  I wrote about that (Newly Vacated Space, Healing Morning, 3/16/2011) in order to release the negative emotions and energies and find a sense of peace and acceptance.  By taking that conscious action and approach, I noticed that new opportunities did, indeed, manifest very quickly to fill that newly vacated space.  And that moment at the window of that meeting room, gazing out at the drifting mists of that rainy day, it was palpable, the sense I had of everything being very clearly ordered.

For now, I am going to continue this process of networking.  It is creating valuable forward momentum and dynamic interaction, and I am positive that more doors are opening as a result.  I have immediate goals that are being accomplished, and I have larger dreams that I'm laying groundwork for in the process of achieving those small steps.  In the midst of all this activity and bustling about, I will also keep my eye peeled for those moments, those nods of recognition that tell me I'm on the right path.  I have found that if I am living consciously in this manner, not only do I recognize those little flags and hallmarks, but I also experience much more richly the moments when I am perfectly placed in time.

  1. Awesome - I know the feeling. It is what I try to embody in my stories. It's good that you can work it into your waking life.

  2. Thanks for your comment, Anna. I find life to be so much easier at this stage where I am consciously interacting with myself and God/Spirit/Universe. I've never been much of a reactive person, but I admit to being pretty good at getting in my own way for a good half of my life! I'm much happier these days, now that I'm living more mindfully. :)

  3. I really enjoyed reading this. Funny as you were describing the scene I thought " I wish I was there with my camera "lol I agree on rainy days, today is one of the few we have had here and we enjoy them. Always feels relaxed and serene. I love shooting those days.
Because you do not post all the time when you do it is like finding a chunk of gold. Have a great day and I'm happy that all is going so well.

  4. "Because you do not post all the time, when you do it is like finding a chunk of gold." My goodness, what an absolutely wonderful thing to read about my writing! You flatter me, Jim, and give me the biggest smile.

I'm an amateur photographer and have plans to invest in a nicer digital camera in the near future. I guess the creative nature likes to be expressed in myriad ways in each of us. :)

Thank you, as always, for visiting and leaving such a kind comment. Now I'm off to visit your page and see what lovely things you've posted recently!

  5. I LOVE rainy days & often tell myself I'm living in the wrong state lol. I'm glad you didn't let that stuff get you down & that you're moving forward & making new connections. Take it one day at a time & continue to embrace those little things that let you know you're on the right path. Love you!!! <3 :)

  6. I think it would be challenging for me to live in another area that doesn't get regular rain - when I lived in Tampa, it bothered me to have 30+ days straight of only sunshine. Rainy days do have a wonderful quality about them.

Thank you for your comments and encouragement, Anahid. I'm glad I've chosen to move on from that one small negative experience and not let it drag me down or keep me from making new connections. Years ago, that would've been more of a challenge, but with age and time, it's easier to process it and release it and move forward.

    Love you back, chickadee! <3

  8. Debz, thank you for such a nice compliment! I feel the same way you do - there aren't enough hours in the day to read every post of our favorite bloggers. I make a strong effort, but I always fall short. Now that I see your name here, I'm looking forward to zipping over to your page to see what gorgeous new stuff you've created! Thanks so much for stopping by to visit. :)

  12. First, about that dream that you heeded… isn’t it a wonderful feeling when dreams foretell outer experience? Love it when that happens!
That “sense I had of everything being very clearly ordered” is another ineffable experience hard to capture in words – although you’ve articulated it beautifully here.
The drifting mists on a rainy day – that and a whispering snowfall – are magical moments indeed, which tend to slow us down long enough to bask in the moment.

  13. Tameka, well met, my newfound friend! Well met, indeed. :)

Debra, I absolutely love walking in the snow. Yep, you guessed it - I've written a blog about that very thing! To me, it is the most peaceful, quiet, blissful experience and I liken it to be held in the hand of Divine Presence.

I do love when dreams are prescient. I have always paid attention to my dreams & I make a concerted effort to write them down & discuss them with someone close to me (usually my Mom) so that I can better understand the messages contained therein. Sometimes the symbolism can be pretty confusing & obscure; other times the message is clear and simple. Either way, I definitely give my dreams strong credence & when I follow that advice, I tend to prosper. Thank you, dear one, for your always wonderful, thoughtful comments.

  14. Yes, the rainy days are good for pondering. Sounds like some cool development. I have no doubt you'll end up exactly where you need to be Dawn. We don't always know why before hand, but we do in time.

  15. Brent, it's a mystical, yet practical thing, when we start to see the dots all connecting. I know that this moment in my life, I am living with more clear purpose than I think I've ever been aware or capable of, and I'm excited to see what the near and distant future brings. Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

  16. Dawn, I'm in Knoxville 3-4 times a month. But, being from the country and the tallest thing around me is a tree-top, my time spent there is always too long and I'm ready to come home before it's time to leave.
I guess a lot of what we see and appreciate has to do with how we were raised and what we are used to seeing.
Your post was great, and I'm happy to hear that things are turning around for you in the business world. The economy has hit us all hard and it's great to hear inspirational stories about success:)

  17. If you like rainy days, you should move up here! Or, alternately, we could send you some. :)

This is a another beautiful post. It's great when we're able to recognize what the universe seems to be telling us. I have to admit that I think I probably miss way too many of those signals.

And that suite sounds lovely! Two walls that are just windows, on the top floor of a high-rise? Can it be rented out for meditation? :)

  18. Wow, Dave, wouldn't that be just sublime for a meditation experience?! It's actually one of those hoity upper crust private clubs in Knoxville (Club LeConte), so someone in that BNI group has to already be a club member in order for that group to have that weekly meeting there. So I guess if you're a member and can afford the room rental fee, you could do anything you wished with the space, in theory. Now I'm going to daydream about meditating up there! :)

Rainy days - we get a good amount of them here, especially since the drought of the last 4 years seems to finally be over. And I'm always going to be a fan of soft gray days. Oh, and those messages that are easy to miss - I started asking God/Universe/Spirit to make them very obvious and clear for me so I don't miss it. Heck, I could be having a typical Dandelion Distraction moment and miss something important! So I ask for clear messages now, and most of the time, I get them. :)

Thanks, as always, for visiting & leaving another wonderful comment. Smiling in TN!
