Spotlight On... Vol. II March 2011

This is my second installment of my new Spotlight On series at Healing Morning and I'm happy to say that I've received a lot of support and interest from many bloggers!  If you are interested in your blog being spotlighted in this series in the future, please take a moment to read the basic criteria to be considered.  The criteria list is short and simple. You can contact me via my Facebook email if you would like to submit your blog page for this series.  I look forward to meeting many new bloggers and spotlighting talented writers and creative people as this series continues to grow.

Here are the five blogs I've chosen to shine a Spotlight On for the month of March:

1.  Confessions of a Cluttered Mind, author Debbie Lamedman.  Debbie is a playwright and fellow freelance writer, so I feel a common bond with her!  She writes about the vagaries of life, the unexpected moments that give joy, the frustrations and challenges of being a full-time writer, and she does it all with a healthy dose of realistic, practical humor that I find greatly entertaining.  Give her a visit - she'll take you with her to discover plays, to rediscover the joy of the outdoors, and also to explore her own unique perspective of Life.

2. JP Brandano, Florida Wedding Photographer, authors Jim & Phyllis Brandano.  Jim and I have become fans of one another in the past couple of months, finding one another through Authentic Blogger and a couple of other blogging groups.  If you think "wedding photographer" is a limiting label, do your eyes and heart a favor and visit this blog.  You'll find yourself captivated by some of the most beautiful photography that turns traditional wedding perspective on its ear in the best way possible!  You'll also be given the extra delightful reward of Jim's writing; I never visit without have a deep sigh from the heart (several) because of the beautiful images, and I also never leave without laughing many times at his wonderful, dry sense of humor.  He's one of my favorites & I think you'll enjoy him also.

3. Pure and Simple, author Debra El Ramey.  I liken Debra to the sensation you get from sitting close to a warm, cozy fire.  She radiates a genuine sense of caring and kindness, coupled with a direct, no nonsense, let's-get-to-the-thick-of-things type of energy.  She is an accomplished writer who shares her thoughts on a wide range of topics, and best of all, she is what I consider the epitome of an Authentic Blogger.  She takes time to read your blog content & leaves some of the most profound comments. I am greatly enjoying getting to know this lovely spirit.

4. Live in the moment Laugh always Breathe with awareness/YogaSavy, author YogaSavy Savira.  Savira is a dear friend that recently relocated back to India to pursue her yoga bliss.  She writes about all the facets and health benefits of yoga, as well as her own experiences in a deeply personal, yet engaging manner. I have always been drawn to the esoteric concepts and energies inherent to the practice of yoga, but I admit I am not as dedicated as Savira.  She lives the truth of yoga in a fashion that I find admirable and I learn so much from her.  She is another strong Authentic Blogger who interacts with her blogging friends in such a way that the miles between both locations evaporate.  I call her a dear friend of my heart & hope you'll visit her blog.

5.  Dave's Buttoned-Up Mind, author Dave Roy. Don't let the blog title fool you into expecting an uptight, narrow, rigid mentality.  Far from it!  Dave is one of those undiscovered (at least on a widespread level) should-be-famous-for-his-satire people.  He's one of those people who can write about all manner of tech-ish topics, he reviews all sorts of computer games, he is currently doggedly pursuing the One Hit Wonders of the first decade of this century, and he also finds time to write on random topics that never fail to spark animated discussion.  Hilarity is a common theme of his writing, or at least it's the result I experience when I visit.  His humor is priceless and I always value friends who can make me laugh each time we interact.  Dave is also one of our admins over at Authentic Blogger and helps keep me sane when things get crazy there.

To each author Spotlighted this month, remember to share and re-post this link on your Facebook and Twitter walls!  The whole purpose of this series is to help each Spotlighted blog grow in readership, so pay it forward as much as you can.  Each of you are talented writers and I hope this Spotlight helps you grow.  As I said in my intro paragraph, if you are interested in having your blog in a future Spotlight On post, shoot me an email via Facebook, make sure you have complied with my criteria list, and stay tuned!  You could be one of the next five authors Spotlighted!

Jim, I'm happy to put an unexpected smile on your face! That's one of my favorite things to do, especially when it means I also get to encourage people to enjoy your work. That's a win-win situation in every direction! Shine on, my friend. :)

  6. Dear Dawn, what an awesome way to start my weekend: being featured in your Spotlight On series!
If I were doing this series, Healing Morning would be one of my all-time favorites. I’d find great delight in sharing with everyone I know the gentle and tranquil presence I find whenever I visit your site, a place abounding with beautiful jewels of wisdom.
    My heart overflows with gratitude!

  7. Debra, I'm so glad you're pleased to be in my Spotlight this month! It's always a blessing to meet someone kindred in so many ways. I call it a beautiful example of serendipity that we met & I look forward to many more years and fascinating blog posts to enjoy on both sides.

Namaste' from my heart to yours,

    Dawn

  8. Thanks so much for the kind words, Dawn!!! I'm glad that my blog hits all the right buttons for you.

The only thing I would disagree with you on is the "animated discussion" part (with the exception of the "who pays for the first date" post :P). I would love it if they did, and I with your help, they'll get there! But they're not there yet.

Thanks again! I will definitely be broadcasting this around.

  9. Dave, I admit that the posts you do on games and tech stuff aren't ones I can get emotionally invested in to the point of posting a comment. I'm not into computer games, so I wouldn't be able to offer anything constructive with comments. Same goes for the podcast stuff for the most part. You DO write the occasional post that sucks me in, though, and the same is true for a lot of your other blogging friends. Perhaps the lesson here is to sprinkle a few more of those random posts in amongst the others? Maybe? Because I enjoy being able to offer my two cents here and there! :)

Thanks in advance for sharing the post. I hope it garners you a lot of traffic to your page and a bunch of new followers.

  10. I try to get a wide variety in there. Which doesn't help when I go almost a week without posting anything. :)

I have friends who really respond to the "Society" type posts. And I'm kind of getting away (for the most part, anyway) from the video games ones, unless they overlap with something else (like my recent Nintendo DS in the classroom post).

As for the podcast, I completely understand. I just figure the more places I post it, the more it will be seen. :)

  11. Oh, I still listen to the podcasts occasionally, I promise!! I continue to be impressed with the good flow of conversation that you have as you interview. Having done a small number of online radio interviews, I've learned that not all show hosts have that knack. You're doing really well with the whole thing! :)

  12. I really appreciate that, Dawn! I am still learning the craft, and am not totally happy with it. But I will continue to improve in time. :)

Thank you so much for the spotlight. You have left me speechless and am lost for words....
There is only a key board that separates the two of us but in my heart I have found a long lost friend.
I only hope I do not disappoint you as my journey moves forward. Your words will always be the gentle nudges that help keep me grounded and focused.
Thank you and Namaste from my <3 to yours!

  14. Savira, your comment has me slightly choked up and teary in return! "There is only a keyboard that separates the two of us but in my heart I have found a long lost friend." <-- I just may have to print that in pretty script on fancy vellum paper and frame it for my office! Namaste' to you right back, darling girl. I am so happy we found one another again this time around. <3

  15. Oh Dawn, I'm so thrilled to know that two of the bloggers I read regularly and admire so much are featured here. I had the pleasure of hosting both of them on my blog last week! I feel so blessed to be connected to all of you!

  16. Corinne, thank you for the vote of approval on this month's Spotlighted blog authors! It's fun to give that nod of recognition and maybe a bump of traffic and attention to favorite bloggers. The medium of blogging is giving voice to so many talented writers, and I'm dedicated to giving more exposure and publicity where I can. :)

    Namaste',
